3M ESPE launches innovative dental care products

3M ESPE, a global provider of dental products including resin composites, bonding agents, cements, curing lights, restorative materials, crowns and bridges and impression systems, launched three new dental products October 18 at the 3M Customer Technical Center in Bangkal Makati.

Present were local dental professionals from the Philippine Dental Association, Philippine Prosthodontic Society, the Philippine Pediatric Dental Society Inc. (PPDSI), the Philippine Dental Center (PDC), the Philippine Children Medical Center (PCMC), the Filipino-Chinese Dental Foundation, Inc. and faculty members of the College of Dentistry of the University of the Philippines, the University of the East and Centro Escolar University.

The three new products launched were Filtek™ Z350XT Flowable Restorative, an easy-to-use nanofilled restorative that allows flow-on-demand handling, with excellent esthetic results, better gloss retention, improved wear, compressive and tensile strength plus excellent radiopacity; Elipar™ LED Curing Light, a high intensity curing light that is designed for maximum efficiency at an affordable value; and Clinpro™ White Varnish with TCP (Tri-Calcium Phosphate), a fluoridated clear varnish for preventive treatment against caries and hypersensitivity.

The dentists hailed the new products as exciting, saying they would raise the standards of preventive and effective dental care that will greatly benefit all Filipino dental patients. Dr. Kara Achacoso, Professional Service Analyst of 3M ESPE Philippines noted that dental caries among Filipinos is generally high, and very common among young children. “It is a common oral problem and a major public health concern in the Philippines,” Dr. Achacoso said. She added that the new 3M ESPE products will help make the job of treating cavities easier and with more satisfying results.

Dr. Amy Gan, of the Malaysian Dental Association meanwhile noted that protective and preventive practices in oral care are usually neglected. Having teeth examined, cleaned and maintained is still regarded as a low priority by majority of the population. “The new 3M ESPE products are exciting because of the new technology. The innovation in the products opens up new possibilities in dentistry and will be a boon to the dental profession. For instance, Clinpro White Varnish’s tri-calcium phosphate component allows calcium and phosphate to co-exist, so the varnish actually re-mineralizes the teeth with calcium, strengthens it and prevents cavities.”

Dr. Georgina Remulla of the Pediatric Dentistry Center added that just one thin coat of Clinpro White Varnish  covers more tooth surfaces that other traditional varnishes miss. Patients can now also eat and drink right after the procedure, when in the past they had to wait for one hour before eating,” Remulla said.

3M ESPE, hailed as the most innovative dental company in the world for 6 straight years by the Anaheim group, provides Philippine dentists the very best dental products and services for their practice. Joey Hidalgo, Head of 3M ESPE’s Health Care Division, reaffirmed 3M ESPE's commitment to the dental industry to live up to its tradition of product innovation & highest quality , continuing education and collaboration. Besides providing innovative products to the profession, 3M ESPE involves itself in the training of dental professionals and collaborates with dental associations in various public oral health projects.

Stanhome World Philippines launches KIOTIS, authentic French brand

After introducing Europe’s best-selling home and family care brands and products to the Philippines last March, Stanhome World, Europe’s No. 1 direct selling home care company welcomes a new addition to its diverse product line: KIOTIS Paris.

One of the top luxury beauty brands in France, KIOTIS Paris was created by Jacques Rocher, son of French cosmetic mogul Yves Rocher. In line with Stanhome World Philippines’ celebration of beauty this September, KIOTIS was launched this month in all Service Centers nationwide.

Why will Filipinas love KIOTIS? The answer lies in the brand’s special ingredients – Essential Oils. Thanks to these concentrated drops of natural essence, KIOTIS products easily penetrate the skin and revitalize the senses. “Essential oils are unique because each drop contains multiple molecules that act together to soothe, soften or even repair the skin,” explains Stanhome World Philippines President Ina Quiogue. “They work faster than most active ingredients and target areas where the body needs help. Products with essential oils last all day and appeal to all the senses, making you feel good all over.”

The KIOTIS products launched in September are Iris in Love Eau de Parfum, KIOTIS Energizing and KIOTIS Vitality aromatic rituals, and La Crème Essentielle face cream. Iris in Love is a rich, delicately elegant scent that gets its fragrance from the lovely Iris pallida, a special flower found in Italy’s Tuscan valley. KIOTIS Energizing and KIOTIS Vitality are two rich product lines composed of rejuvenating body lotions, revitalizing body sprays, and luxurious bath gels. KIOTIS Energizing awakens the well-being with the essences of mandarin, carrot and ginger, while KIOTIS Vitality boosts the senses with mint and lemon. Lastly, La Crème Essentielle is a refined face cream that stimulates and energizes the skin’s vital functions through the essences of rose and myrrh.

KIOTIS offers the best in aromatology and has three commitments: it uses 100% essential oils, its products contain no genetically modified plants or organisms, and all raw materials undergo strict efficacy and safety tests.

The launch of KIOTIS coincides with Stanhome’s celebration of 80 years of excellence worldwide. The company is part of Groupe Yves Rocher, a reputable group of brands supported by strong and authentic values, making it one of the biggest names in the European world of beauty.

The Best Way To Cure Dengue Is To Prevent It

As rains and monsoon floods continue to submerge our roads and homes and cause stagnant pools of water to accumulate in our surroundings, the threat of dengue remains increasingly high.
The dreaded dengue mosquito (Aedes aegypti) thrives in stagnant pools of water in tanks, cans, empty bottles, tires and hollow vessels that are not cleaned every day. It attacks at daytime – especially during the two hours before sunrise and sunset.  Just one bite can cause dengue, and symptoms appear as early as three to 14 days after. Because its symptoms can be associated with several other illnesses, thousands of dengue cases are oftentimes left untreated, and many result in death. The Department of Health (DOH) says dengue cases abound in suburban communities where junk shops, vulcanizing shops, tires on tops of roofs, backyard piggeries, and underdeveloped subdivisions become natural breeding grounds for Aedis aegypti.
For the deadly combination of stagnant water and dengue mosquito larvae cultivation to end, water-logged areas must be cleaned regularly to prevent the spread of dengue-carrying mosquitoes. Better yet, everyone, regardless of age and gender or status, must make the effort to protect himself/herself from the deadly bite of the dengue mosquito. The best cure against dengue is prevention.
Stanhome World, the No. 1 Direct Selling Home Care brand in Europe, shares some tips to prevent the dengue mosquito from biting:

1.    Eliminate the mosquitoes’ breeding places.
Aedes mosquitoes don’t lay eggs on dirty water. Their favorite place to lay their eggs is in clean yet stagnant water, in moist and dark surroundings.  Discard water from jars, bottles, drums, auto tires, flower/plant pots, trash cans, coconut husks and other materials that collect rain or run-off water. Also, check the gutter and canals in your home and clean them thrice a week to remove water deposits.

 2.    Don’t give mosquitoes access to your home.
Don’t store water in an open container. Add screens to your windows and doors if you can. If you can’t, just make sure that doors and windows are closed especially during the day time.

 3.    Wear protective clothes
Long sleeved shirts or jackets, socks, long pants, and other apparel that will cover your skin to prevent mosquito bites are recommended during these Dengue Danger Days.

4.    Use insect repellent and other products that repel mosquitoes.
Insect repellents can prevent mosquitoes from touching or landing on your clothes or skin. The citronella plant, whose smell the mosquitoes can’t stand, can be planted around the house and placed in strategic areas. STANHOME Banish Citronella -- an odor neutralizer which keeps mosquitoes out as it removes bad odors from your home -- can be hung in strategic places to erect a "force field" against mosquitoes. STANHOME Stan-Wick Citronella home deodorizer which emits a clean, fresh citronella scent also welcomes guests and rejects pests. Keep your skin insect free with STANHOME Insect Repellent Gel that forms an effective protective barrier against deadly mosquitoes and other insects for at least 7.5 hours.
Remember, if mosquitoes can’t get near you, they won’t be able to harm you at all.
